But Swiftkey treats all symbols (+/%) all like punctuation without a space. Okay then. I will continue my habit of spacing before using &. None of it is treated as a new word. In general that's what you want, otherwise you'd be forever delting spaces before full stops, commas, hyphens, apostrophes, etc. Quotation marks are the other similar case I guess, in that sometimes they'll be opening quotes, in which case you want a space first, and sometimes they'll be closing quotes, in which case you don't.Juliehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05820275226866762782noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2761420800159293907.post-42654638178610431252013-07-11T19:50:18.871+01:002013-07-11T19:50:18.871+01:00Oops, I meant before the ampersand.

I had used Swype & loved it, but kept hearing about Swiftkey, so I installed it.

I liked a lot of the features, but felt it wasn't quite right. I felt it was not a smooth. Then after reading this post, I realized what it was.

Swiftkey's big deal it predicting words. Well, I got in the habit of swiping a whole sentence out & then looking to make sure it's right. (And it usually was in Swype). But in Swiftkey, it wants you to tap on each word. That's not efficient for me at all.

The other key thing, which you mentioned here, is that it's suggestions after a swipe are awful! And with only 3 choices, that's not likely going to include the word I wanted at all.

All the other points you added are my reasons for liking Swype too: the capitalization, the contractions, etc.

One thing. Since you've used Swype longer than me, maybe you have a suggestion for this. The ONLY time Swype will not add in a space automatically is after the ampersand. Unfortunately, I use the ampersand a lot, so it's really frustrating. It's the reason I went over to Swiftkey. Do you know a way to make it do that?

Thanks! I've been using wwf for approx 1 year and only looked for an alternative because wwf is really really buggy. It's even buggier on android (who would have thought that was possible hey :-). It's just par for the course with wwf to switch over to task manager and have to kill it.

With regards to the battery life in wwf, it has nothing to do with notifications. The reason is that it uses the CPU of the phone at 100% while viewing a board or viewing the list of games. This causes my phone to heat up and drain the battery dead in around an hour. This is not an issue when in chat mode and doesn't appear to be an issue when the screen is off. The only way to save batteries with wwf is to spend less time in the game. If you need to think for a while with the board open that is when your battery is draining.

The reason wwf is so buggy is that they simply hire bad programmers. I've been programming for a long time and have seen it time and time again. It's interesting that no one would get anyone but an experienced builder to build their house but companies will hire inexperienced people who dabble in programming all the time. I can understand that wwf might have started this way but I find it odd that they don't just hire someone who knows what they are doing now. The other thing I see is a lot of is skittish management. This can be seen by the fact that they started working on the android version but before that's even remotely finished they switched over to work on the Facebook version. Anyway, my point is that things are just not going to change, wwf will always be buggy as ****.Michaelhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09773641635539064258noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2761420800159293907.post-15058773698717388292011-08-05T17:01:24.272+01:002011-08-05T17:01:24.272+01:00Extremely sorry to hear this unwelcome news. As soon as I played wordfeud a few times, I un-installed wwf, for many of the reasons given in your post. The only feature I miss from wwf is when making multiple words it tells you which word(s) is/are incorrect, whereas wordfeud just gives a generic dialogue.

I also agree that historic stats would be nice, especially as you can arrange re-matches.

One other feature lacking in both games is the ability to resign a game when it's not your turn.
